You’ve written your first novel or short story. What is the next step? For most authors, it’s finding the right editor to help polish your manuscript. As a writer myself, I know that most of us are too close to our work to see potential errors. You become word-blind and need fresh eyes. This is where I can help you. I am an award-winning author of science fiction and paranormal romance with seventeen books published. I was also executive editor for Crimson Cloak Publishing for nearly ten years, working in a variety of genres.
A copy editor works with written text to make sure that it is clear, accurate, and easy to understand for the intended audience. I focus on improving how a piece of writing reads, helping the message come across smoothly without distracting mistakes in grammar, spelling, or punctuation. I’ll also look for consistency in style and tone so that your manuscript feels like one unified piece rather than a mix of different voices. By catching confusing wording, unclear ideas, drops in point of view or tense, and small errors before publication, I can help a writer communicate their ideas more effectively and help readers stay focused on the content.
I will provide a free sample edit of the first pages to make sure we will be a good fit. Price will depend on the amount of work your manuscript will need but will average between 1 and 2.5 cents a word. A 60,000 word manuscript will cost between $600.00 and $1500.00. We can discuss this after the sample edit. A 60,000 word manuscript that does not need a lot of developmental work will usually take between two and three weeks to complete. A deposit of half will need to be made up front through PayPal, with the balance due before the finished manuscript is provided.
